We are Fashion Africa Now, a media brand for contemporary creativity from Africa and its Diaspora, founded by Beatrace Angut Oola. We celebrate creativity, culture, identity and feature the names and faces behind it. We are local to Berlin, Hamburg, London and Amsterdam.
In October 2020 we released our first podcast episode - FAN, an acronym for Fashion Africa Now. We know just how rich the knowledge shared in each episode is, featuring a variety of guests from the industry. Our guests include professors, dedicated designers, artists, journalists, creatives with first-hand experiences and livelihoods invested in the fashion and art eco-systems in Africa and in the African diaspora. The wealth of information and experiences shared in these conversations with the host and founder Beatrace, also a guest lecturer at University of the Arts Bremen, are inspirational and truly reveal untold stories, systematically delving into its past and, more importantly, shaping its future.
With our podcast, we seek to pass on knowledge, ignite conversations, inspire people and expand understanding and meaning of what fashion, aesthetics and culture are from Africa and its global diaspora. We hope you will find value in it, particularly in the additional FAN Podcast material, such as our Episode Summaries that are transcribed. This is reserved for our ‘knowledge seekers’ and can be found on FAN's account on Patreon. Many well-cultured and unique accents in each episode discuss names, places, historic events, brands and companies for you to explore further.
